There's been a Dee Ford sighting at the San Francisco 49ers practice facility. Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee spotted the veteran pass rusher pushing a sled on a side field at the start of Friday's practice. As noted by the beat writer, Ford has not played since Week 1.
Spotted for the first time in a while: DE Dee Ford (back) pushing a sled on the side field. He hasn't played since Week 1. #49ers
Ford is dealing with a back injury. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the severity of the injury, as the 49ers have opted not to disclose further information. We know the team doesn't expect Ford to return until after the team's Week 11 bye. San Francisco placed the defender on injured reserve on October 3.
"I mean, he's gotten the work he's needed," head coach Kyle Shanahan said of Ford this week. "He got the shots he's needed. He's rested it. Now, he's just starting to get back into some things. But still ways away on that."
Ford is in his second season with the 49ers. San Francisco acquired the defender last offseason in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Ford recorded three tackles in his one game appearance this season.
