49ers-Dolphins: Deebo Samuel, Raheem Mostert ‘should be good’ to play

Oct 11, 2020 at 8:09 AM--

It sounds like the San Francisco 49ers offense will be close to full strength when it takes on the Miami Dolphins this afternoon.

Not only is quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) back in the lineup, but running back Raheem Mostert will be too, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The team's leading rusher from last season sustained an MCL sprain during Week 2 and, like Garoppolo, has missed the last two games.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who missed two practices this week due to an illness, was listed as "questionable" for today's game. He too is expected to be out there with his teammates as the 49ers seek their first home win of the season.

While Samuel's illness was not COVID-19-related, protocols required him to be away from the team facilities until he passed two tests for the highly-contagious virus. He was, however, able to virtually participate in team meetings.

Kickoff between the 49ers and Dolphins is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. PT.

The 2020 NFL season probably didn't go as running back Raheem Mostert had hoped. Injuries reduced his participation to just eight games. According to Next Gen Stats, Mostert did finish the season recording the two fastest ball-carrier speeds. He hit 23.09 MPH during Week 2 against the New York Jets, a game he left with an MCL sprain, and forcing the running back to miss the next two matchups. Mostert was tracked reaching 22.73 MPH during a Week 1 touchdown reception against the Arizona

Deebo Samuel has faced his share of injuries throughout his football career, but nothing ever hit him as hard from a mental perspective as what he went through in 2020. Fortunately, the challenges Samuel faced in 2020 are now almost completely in the rearview mirror, and as a result, he's itching to jump into the offseason and get prepared for 2021. Samuel spoke in detail with reporters Monday about what he went through in 2020, revealing that he faced a level of emotional challenge along the way that he hadn't experienced previously in his career. Samuel went through two injury-shortened seasons during his college days at the University of South Carolina, but a Jones fracture in his foot he sustained during an offseason workout in June followed by hamstring

Deebo Samuel doesn't like anyone suggesting Nick Bosa be part of a potential Watson-to-49ers trade

By David Bonilla
Jan 14, 2021

It's the offseason. So why not speculate on what it might take for the San Francisco 49ers to land disgruntled Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson? One suggestion by former NFL player Ross Tucker, during an interview on 95.7 The Game, was a little too wild for a 49ers wide receiver's liking. Tucker mentioned the 49ers' young pass-rushing star after being asked if anyone is untouchable in creating a tempting enough package to acquire Watson. "I would say Nick Bosa, but if you can get Deshaun Watson, I think even Bosa is touchable," Tucker said. "I'm sure they don't want to do it, and I'm sure they'd even rather give up picks, but as great as Nick is, if you get a chance to get a top-five quarterback in the NFL, you have to do it. "So I would say
