For the second game in a row, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Nick Mullens followed up a touchdown by helping out the game crew and fixing the fallen pylon on the corner of the end zone.
What a nice guy.
Mullens did so during Week 2 against the New York Jets. This time, his teammates weren't going to let their quarterback leave the pylon in disarray during their second consecutive game at MetLife Stadium — this time against the New York Giants.
This moment came after a 10-yard rushing touchdown by Jerick McKinnon in the second quarter. The 49ers went on to win the game 36-9.
"You all can take that joke and do what you want with it, but I told people last week — I think I told you all earlier in the week — I was just kind of messing around the first time," Mullens said after the game with a smile. "And then today, an O-lineman grabbed it and said, 'Hey, set it up.' I was, 'Alright, I guess I'll keep riding with it.'
"So yeah, it was fun. It's fun to play with your teammates. Guys have the right mindset — attack, attack, attack, and then have fun when you score. That's why I love this team, this whole team."
Mullens finished the game 25-of-36 for 343 yards with a touchdown and passer rating of 108.9. It was this ninth consecutive start passing for 220-or-more yards, making him the first 49ers quarterback to accomplish that since Joe Montana did so over the 1985 and 1986 seasons.
