There was additional cartilage damage in Nick Bosa’s knee, per report

Sep 27, 2020 at 8:10 AM--

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa is scheduled to have surgery in Los Angeles this week to repair the torn ACL he suffered on September 20. Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that there was some additional cartilage damage in the knee, but the 49ers hope that won't hinder his rehab.

Bosa must pass a COVID-19 test before undergoing surgery. He is expected to return for next season.

Fellow defensive lineman Solomon Thomas, who suffered a torn ACL two plays after Bosa, is also slated to have surgery. The 49ers, however, want to wait until the swelling in his knee goes down before he undergoes any procedure.

San Francisco will push forward without their two defensive linemen and today will face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, on the same field where both Bosa and Thomas were injured just a week ago.

The outlook for the 2020 San Francisco 49ers changed dramatically when second-year defensive end Nick Bosa went down with a torn ACL during Week 2 against the New York Jets. That's how good Bosa is. He is a game-changer on the edge of the once-formidable Niners defensive line that has also lost Solomon Thomas for the year to a torn ACL, and veteran Dee Ford is out indefinitely with a back injury. Joey Bosa of the Los Angeles Chargers told reporters on Wednesday that his younger brother, Nick, is staying with him and his parents during his rehab. "It's nice having them around," Joey Bosa said. "They're keeping the place [tidy] for me and food constantly running. I can't

Kyle Shanahan, John Lynch believe Nick Bosa can become an Aaron Donald-type player for 49ers

Defensive end Nick Bosa hit a setback in his development. The reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year suffered a torn ACL during Week 2 against the New York Jets. Who knows what kind of difference Bosa's presence might have made for the struggling San Francisco 49ers? They probably would have more than just two wins at this point. Bosa hasn't been the only injury, but his loss may have been the most impactful for the defense. The pass rush hasn't been as effective without the second-year defender. Also missing is veteran Dee Ford, who is out indefinitely with a back injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan knows what a good pass rush can do for a defense, and the loss of Bosa has crippled the efforts to frustrate quarterbacks this season. The young pass

Nick Bosa won't play again this season, but the San Francisco 49ers expect the talented young pass rusher to be terrorizing opposing quarterbacks next year. Bosa, along with another former first-round pick, Solomon Thomas, suffered a season-ending torn ACL during a Week 2 victory over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Bosa is attacking his rehab after what head coach Kyle Shanahan said was a successful surgery to repair the damage in his knee. MOTUS Specialists Physical Therapy in Orange County posted the following video of Bosa on the glute-hamstring machine, noting that they are "respecting post-op precautions" while challenging the
