The San Francisco 49ers held their first practice of the week at The Greenbrier in West Virginia as the team opted to remain on the East Coast between its back-to-back games at MetLife Stadium. The 49ers beat the New York Jets 31-13 this past Sunday and look to have similar success this weekend against the New York Giants.
Tight end George Kittle returned to practice this week. He was limited on Wednesday. Kittle reportedly suffered a sprained MCL and bone bruise during the 49ers' Week 1 loss against the Arizona Cardinals and was inactive against the Jets.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan remains optimistic that his All-Pro tight end might be available against the Giants.
"I'll see him today for the first time," Shanahan told reporters before practice. "Looking forward to seeing how he moves out there in individual (drills)."

San Francisco signed defensive end Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah this week to help offset some of the losses along the defensive line. The veteran pass rusher practiced with his teammates for the first time on Wednesday.
"Ziggy's had a hell of a career," Shanahan said. "He did a great job in Detroit, had to play against him a number of times. He's a guy I always hated playing against. Had a little bit of a setback the last couple of years with some injuries, and we think we're getting him in here, and we know he's hungry. We love the guy."
