49ers unofficial practice participation report for 9/3: Dre Greenlaw returns

Sep 3, 2020 at 12:45 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers won't be required to issue an official practice participation report until next Wednesday. Until then, who takes part in practices has to be based on what local reporters see on the field during the first part of each session. The media must leave before team drills begin.

The 49ers announced that wide receiver Tavon Austin had been placed on injured reserve. The team also activated wide receiver Richie James from the active/non-football injury list.

Did not appear to practice on Thursday:

General manager John Lynch revealed on Thursday morning that Verrett suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday's practice. The 49ers are awaiting word on the severity of the injury.

Appeared to return to practice:

Greenlaw returned after spending time in the concussion protocol. He practiced in a blue no-contact jersey.
