The San Francisco 49ers won't be required to issue an official practice participation report until next Wednesday. Until then, who takes part in practices has to be based on what local reporters see on the field during the first part of each session. The media must leave before team drills begin.
The 49ers announced that wide receiver Tavon Austin had been placed on injured reserve. The team also activated wide receiver Richie James from the active/non-football injury list.
