New San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams continues to praise the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Nick Bosa. The two have been going against each other during training camp practices.
The matchups have allowed Bosa to sharpen his skills as he prepares to enter his second NFL season. For Williams, it has been a great way to knock off some of the rust after a missed season.
Williams spoke with reporters after Saturday's practice and shared how beneficial it has been going against Bosa, who he believes is already one of the best rushers in the league.
"He's better than I ever thought he was, and I already knew he was top three, four in the game," Williams said. "Just going up against him every day, seeing how smart he is, seeing how hard he works, and just seeing how seriously he takes the game, I honestly see his trajectory as being one of the best in the game.
"When it's all said and done, I think when you say, 'Who's the best pass rusher, all around D-end?' I think Nick Bosa may probably be the first name that comes out of a lot of people's mouths."
The 49ers traded for the Williams in April. His last snap came on December 30, 2018. The seven-time Pro Bowl tackle feels his work against Bosa is helping him to better prepare for his return to the football field.
"It's a blessing for me because I'm able to go against him every day," Williams added. "We're able to talk, kind of walk each other through how we're thinking. It's been a great help to me, and I couldn't have even planned a better camp, just as far as learning-wise and knocking the rust off."
