There were a lot of rumors surrounding the San Francisco 49ers' reported interest in safety Jamal Adams before the New York Jets sent the All-Pro defender to the Seattle Seahawks. General manager John Lynch eventually stated that the 49ers had given the idea of pursuing Adams some thought. However, they knew that adding him would be too costly.
"Being up there against it with what's happening in the (salary) cap due to the pandemic, it just wasn't a reality for us,"
Lynch said last month. "Yes, our division is getting better. We understand that. That's why we're working so hard to get better."
Added Lynch: "Were we interested? Of course you would be interested in a player like that. Is it a reality? No."
What did starting safety Jaquiski Tartt think about the rumors surrounding Adams, who might have been seen as his replacement? He didn't give them too much thought.
"As far as the Jamal Adams talk, it's quarantine," Tartt told reporters on Wednesday via a video conference call. "The media needs some kind of attention, so I don't really too much worry about that."
Added Tartt: "It's just social media."
San Francisco will
reportedly work out Tavon Austin with the intention of signing the veteran wide receiver. What does Tartt think about the longtime St. Louis and Los Angeles Ram? He sees him as a potential asset.
"Somebody who can stretch the field," Tartt shared while describing Austin. "Very elusive. I feel like he's still got it, and he can help our team a lot, offensively and on special teams."

Kyle Shanahan: 49ers still have "got to improve" despite 3-0 start
By Rohan Chakravarthi
Sep 23
The San Francisco 49ers improved to 3-0 on the season after a 30-12 victory over the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football—dominating from the jump and never letting up a two-possession lead after a 17-6 advantage going into halftime.
However, that dominating performance doesn't mean that the 49ers played at their peak, at least according to Kyle Shanahan, who was pleased with his team's play on a tough Thursday night, but still pointed out a couple of improvements to look at going forward.
"Yeah, definitely, [I still think we have some work to do]," Shanahan said. "We did real good, time of possession, I think we had like 40 minutes. I thought our defense played real well. I thought they stepped it up. They started doing that in the second half last
49ers-Giants: Trent Williams calls punch of A'Shawn Robinson a 'love tap'; Official explains why Williams wasn't ejected
Those who watched Thursday night's game between the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants may want to know why no ejections took place after 49ers left tackle Trent Williams punched the face mask of Giants defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson as the first half came to a close.
NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating Walt Anderson gave an explanation behind that decision after the game, while Williams played his punch off as a "love tap."
The incident took place towards the end of the first half of the 49ers' 30-12 win over the Giants, following a play where the 49ers downed the ball. Robinson can be seen giving Williams a poke in the chin, after which Williams swung and hit Robinson in the face

Baldy: 49ers QB Brock Purdy has Montana-like poise
Brock Purdy's statistics from last Thursday night's game against the New York Giants don't paint the whole picture. Yes, Purdy threw for a career-high 310 yards, but the Giants defense was getting pressure on the San Francisco 49ers' second-year quarterback.
That didn't phase Purdy, though. He wasn't rattled. And that is just one of many traits that has one NFL analyst impressed with the 23-year-old.
"Obviously, the best that ever did it right there, Joe Montana, he had that. You couldn't rattle him," Brian Baldinger said Tuesday morning on 95.7 The Game's "The Morning Roast" show. "I'm not comparing him to Joe Montana. I'm not doing anything like that, but he does have that composure. He does have that poise."
