The San Francisco 49ers scheduled a face-to-face meeting with Texas A&M defensive tackle Justin Madubuike before pre-draft meetings were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was assumed that the team would try to hold a virtual interview with Madubuike since an in-person meeting wasn't possible.
Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle today confirmed that the virtual interview between the 49ers and Madubuike did indeed occur.

Madubuike finished his time with the Aggies having racked up 85 tackles, 22 for a loss, 11 sacks, an interception, four passes defensed, and four forced fumbles over his final two collegiate seasons.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-3 and 293-pound Madubuike had a 40-time of 4.83 seconds, completed the three-cone drill in 7.37 seconds, and 31 reps in the bench press. Other measurables for Madubuike include an arm length of 33 1/2 inches and hands that measure 9 inches.
NFL.com projects Madubuike to be a third- or fourth-round draft pick. San Francisco doesn't currently have a selection in either round and lacks a pick between rounds one and five.

Madubuike (pronounced MAD-aye-boo-kay) became a force for the Aggies as a sophomore, earning the team's Defensive Most Valuable Player award after starting 12 of 13 games played and leading the squad with three forced fumbles and 6.5 sacks among his 40 tackles, 10.5 for loss. He topped his squad with 11.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in 12 games (11 starts) as a junior; he also intercepted a pass, broke up two others and blocked a kick in 2019. He did not play in the team's bowl game, choosing to prepare for the draft. The former five-star recruit and all-state pick from McKinney, Texas played in all 13 games as a backup his freshman year, posting 20 stops, 2.5 for loss, and a forced fumble.

Undersized early-entry defensive tackle who lacks NFL mass but gets wins with leverage, strength and quickness. Madubuike played in front of blockers in college but is more likely to be schemed as a moving target whose quickness and athletic ability can benefit him. He's not overly explosive off the snap, so getting on top of blockers with quickness could be the difference between surviving and thriving. Madubuike projects as a rotational one-gapping tackle with upward mobility, but the floor is a little lower, due to size and scheme limitations.
