The San Francisco 49ers locked up Arik Armstead, Jimmie Ward, and Ronald Blair, who were all scheduled to hit free agency. Could wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders be the first 49ers free agent out the door, though?
The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly interested.
Losing Sanders after just half a season would be difficult considering the 49ers sent two draft picks to the Denver Broncos in exchange for the veteran wide receiver. Dallas is interested in the two-time Pro Bowler, according to Jane Slater of NFL Media, and the feeling may be mutual.
The #Cowboys have expressed an interest in 2x Pro Bowler and former SMU wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders per a source informed. Sanders, last with the 49ers, trains in Dallas in the offseason and is equally interested in the #Cowboys I'm told.
San Francisco has seemed content with allowing Sanders to test free agency and learn what his market might be. The receiver recently said via Twitter that the team had made no efforts to initiate contract talks with the 10-year veteran.
The Pittsburgh Steelers made Sanders a third-round selection out of SMU in 2010. He registered 66 receptions for 869 yards with five touchdowns through 17 regular-season games and 16 starts with both the 49ers and Broncos in 2019.
