San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle joined the Out of Nowhere podcast this week and shared what it was like meeting one of his favorite wrestlers of all time, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, during the week leading to Super Bowl LIV.
You probably remember the intro to the big game featuring The Rock as he introduced the players for both the 49ers, including Kittle, and the Kansas City Chiefs. If not, you can watch it below.
Kittle was just going where he was told to go. It was, after all, media week, and the All-Pro tight end was being pulled in many directions. He had no idea that The Rock was going to be part of the filming of the runway segment.
When Kittle was told, it was a complete surprise.
"I turn around, and The Rock was stepping up onto the stage, goes chest to chest with me, and he goes, 'What's up, brother?'" Kittle shared with Matt Slauson and Danny Woodhead. "I literally almost backed off the stage and fell. I had no idea. I probably let out a little yell ... I couldn't stop swearing."
Kittle was then told that he was taking up too much time, and he needed to go backstage to be introduced.
"I messed up like twice because I couldn't even think straight," Kittle added. "I was like, 'I don't even know where I am, right now. That's The Rock, though.'
"Right afterward, I got to talk to him for about 30 seconds. He gave me a bottle of tequila (he has his own brand), got a photo with him, and then I was out the gate, and I didn't see him again, so that was tough. But, I got to meet The Rock, which was cool."
