The San Francisco 49ers announced Wednesday that the team has signed veteran defensive lineman Ethan Westbrooks to a one-year deal.
Westbrooks, 29, is preparing to enter his sixth NFL season after sitting out 2019.
The St. Louis Rams signed Westbrooks as an undrafted free agent out of West Texas A&M on May 13, 2014. He spent a month last offseason with the Oakland Raiders but was released on August 31, 2019.
Westbrooks (6-4, 287) has recorded 79 tackles, nine sacks, three passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in 67 games during his five NFL seasons, all with the Rams. Nine of his 11 career starts came during the 2017 season.
Westbrooks appeared in 29 games with 23 starts at West Texas A&M and registered 96 tackles, 23.5 sacks, seven passes defensed, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries during his collegiate career.
