Key stats from the 49ers’ 31-20 loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV

The San Francisco 49ers suffered their most disappointing loss of the season, and probably their most disappointing since 2013 — the last time the team lost a Super Bowl. It looked like the 49ers might take home their sixth Vince Lombardi Trophy when they led 20-10 late in the game. Then a fourth-quarter collapse or a ferocious Chiefs comeback, whichever you prefer to call it, occurred.

The 49ers Communications staff provided some key 49ers-centric statistics from the game. They are below.

Team Stats

• The 49ers defense registered two interceptions on the night, with LB Fred Warner and DB Tarvarius Moore each intercepting Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes for their first postseason interceptions of their careers.
• San Francisco finished the 2019 postseason with five interceptions. The team's five interceptions this postseason were tied for the 4th-most in a single postseason in franchise history.

• The 49ers registered 4.0 sacks on the night.
• The Niners finished the 2019 postseason with 13.0 sacks, tied for the 2nd-most in a single postseason by San Francisco since 1982.

Defensive Player Stats

• DE Nick Bosa registered five tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one pass defensed on the night.
• He finished the 2019 postseason with 4.0 sacks as a rookie
• Bosa became the first rookie in the NFL with 4.0-or-more sacks in a single postseason since Patriots DE Garin Veris (4.0) in 1985 and just the 3rd rookie with 4.0-or-more sacks in a single postseason, since 1982.

• DT DeForest Buckner finished with 1.5 sacks on the night as he now has 2.5 postseason sacks.
• DT Earl Mitchell was credited with 0.5 sack of Mahomes and has 1.5 postseason sacks.
• S Jaquiski Tartt earned his first career postseason sack.
• DB Jimmie Ward forced a Mahomes fumble, marking his first career postseason forced fumble.

Offensive Player Stats

• WR Deebo Samuel finished the game with five receptions for 39 yards to go along with three carries for 53 yards.
• His 53 rushing yards were the most by a WR in a Super Bowl while his 32-yard run is the longest run by a WR in a Super Bowl.
• FB Kyle Juszczyk registered three receptions for 39 yards and one touchdown. His 15-yard touchdown reception was his first career postseason touchdown.
• According to ESPN Stats & Info, Juszczyk became the first FB since ex-49ers FB William Floyd in Super Bowl XXIX to register a receiving touchdown.
• According to NFL Research, Juszczyk is the 7th FB to score a touchdown in a Super Bowl and the first since FB Mike Alstott in Super Bowl XXXVII.
• RB Raheem Mostert finished the game with 12 carries for 58 yards and one touchdown.
• Mostert's five rushing touchdowns in the 2019 postseason are the 2nd-most in 49ers franchise postseason history.
