Shanahan: 49ers plan to start Colton McKivitz until Trent Williams' return

The San Francisco 49ers expect Trent Williams to "be out some time." Head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't want to be more specific regarding the tackle's recovery time. Williams suffered a high-ankle sprain during Sunday night's loss to the Denver Broncos. "The swelling's pretty bad," Shanahan explained Monday during a conference call. "Usually high ankles are usually, just for everyone, they say four to six [weeks], but sometimes it can be sooner. Sometimes it can be longer. So that's why I didn't give an exact date.
