George Kittle didn't get to play during the team's Week 10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The San Francisco 49ers will have their Pro Bowl tight end on the field on for Sunday night's regular-season finale in Seattle, a rematch that will determine the NFC West champion.
And he is excited about it.
The 49ers are coming off a thrilling 34-31 victory on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Rams. Kittle and his teammates hope to carry the momentum from the win into Week 17.
"The way that game ended, I think a lot of people thought it was going into OT, for sure," Kittle told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk on Monday. "But the fact that Jimmy could stay in the pocket and deliver two 3rd-and-16s back-to-back on two beautiful passes, I think that says a lot about our team. It says a lot about Jimmy G, and how he can deliver, and how he leads this team.
"We're just going to keep carrying that momentum into this game coming up Sunday night."
Kittle may not be the only player to take the field on Sunday who didn't do so in the last contest between the two teams. The Seahawks, according to reports, are seriously considering a reunion with running back Marshawn Lynch following season-ending injuries to Chris Carson (hip) and C.J. Prosise (broken arm).
It sounds like Kittle and the 49ers welcome the challenge.
"That would be awesome," Kittle said of the idea of facing Lynch. "I love watching him play. He brings a lot to the table so he'd be an unreal challenge, but I'll let that play out. But I'm a fan of [his], so I'd love to see that."
