San Francisco 49ers rookie defensive end Nick Bosa has earned his first league-sponsored award and been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Bosa and the 49ers are coming off a 31-3 victory over the Cleveland Browns. The rookie finished the game with four combined tackles, two sacks, five quarterback hits, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
Bosa is the 49ers' first defensive lineman to win the award since Bryant Young in 2005, per Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group.

Bosa played college football at Ohio State, and the 49ers made him the No. 2 overall pick in April. He has racked up eight combined tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble through four games this season.
