Terrell Owens left his experience over the weekend overwhelmed with emotion. The Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver became the 28th inductee into the Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame on Saturday and was honored at Levi's Stadium during halftime on Sunday.
Watching his former team battle to a 24-20 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers was a bonus.
Owens was joined by former teammates, like Jerry Rice, for this weekend's festivities. The return to his NFL roots caused Owens to reflect on his spectacular career and even on what could have been.
Owens joined 95.7 The Game on Tuesday and discussed the one thing he feels is missing from his NFL resume.
"It's such a weird feeling, especially for me because I know I still probably should be playing or could have been playing three to four more years," Owens said on the "Joe, Lo, and Dibs" show. "I just feel like, honestly, my career was incomplete because I didn't finish my career in a Forty-Niner uniform. I definitely wish I could have done that."
Having Rice and other former teammates by his side over the weekend meant a lot to Owens.
"Everybody's always said that we're like two of the greatest to ever play the game," Owens continued, "and to have him there, and a lot of the other teammates, even from former teams, that were there, to be there in support of me, it was a great feeling."
By the way, Rice jokingly commented on Monday that his statue in the 49ers Museum is "a little bit cooler" than Owens'.
Owens was asked, based on what he has seen so far, if the 49ers can make the playoffs this year.
"Absolutely," Owens enthusiastically answered. "Even with the win, it wasn't a pretty win, and any time you have the amount of turnovers that they had in that game on Sunday, you're supposed to lose. Statistics say that you're not supposed to win that game, but they found a way to win, and that is a lot of encouragement.
"Obviously, the guys that had those turnovers, that's something that they have to work on. […] Again, overall, great win. It wasn't a pretty win, but it's very encouraging, the way that they won, that they came out on the other end with this game this weekend."
