49ers-Steelers Injury Report: Dee Ford practices, is listed as questionable; James Conner expected to play

Sep 20, 2019 at 1:46 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 3 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. On Friday, the team held its final full practice of the week.

DE Dee Ford returned to practice on Friday, which bodes well for his chances of playing on Sunday. Ford left this past weekend's game against the Cincinnati Bengals bothered by the quadriceps and knee injury which plagued him during training camp and forced him to miss the preseason.

The 49ers' other marquee edge rusher, Nick Bosa, has practiced all week after missing most of last week but still playing in Cincinnati. He is listed as questionable.

For the Steelers, RB James Conner (knee) has practiced all week and is expected to play against the 49ers.

Below are the official injury reports for the 49ers and Steelers, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff. Also included are this week's practice participation reports.

Football Outsiders has once again taken a look at the best young players in the league who don't have a lot of playing time. The feature for ESPN casts aside first-round picks and other top prospects, and instead focuses on those who didn't receive a lot of fanfare. "This is a list of players who have a strong chance to make an impact in the NFL despite their lack of draft stock and the fact they weren't immediate NFL starters," wrote Rivers McCown. The list is a top 25 ranking, and two players represent the San Francisco 49ers. The first — 26-year-old offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill — comes in at No. 10. The

49ers WR Richie James Jr. added to reserve/COVID-19 list

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that the team added wide receiver Richie James Jr. to its reserve/COVID-19 list. The list is reserved for those testing positive for the virus or being quarantined after close contact with an infected person. One can speculate that it might be the latter, as Matt Barrows of The Athletic reported earlier today that no players from the 49ers' initial reporting group had tested positive. James becomes the first 49ers player to land on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Per agreed upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on the player's medical status other than referring to roster status. Clubs may not disclose

Roster moves: D.J. Reed's season ends, Richie James taken off reserve/COVID-19 list, two activated, no 49ers opt out of season so far

By David Bonilla
Aug 3, 2020

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch announced a few roster moves before a Monday afternoon press conference conducted via Zoom. One was the decision to place safety D.J. Reed on the reserve/non-football injury list, effectively ending his season. The versatile defensive back suffered a torn pectoral muscle in June. "That's a tough one for us," Lynch told reporters. "The earliest we might have had D.J. back was early November. It's a four-to-six-month injury, so that's been an active conversation Kyle and myself and the medical folks have been having. Ultimately, too difficult to keep a roster spot for something that may go into December. So we made that
