Amador Valley High School quarterback Kannon Dote went through a lengthy recovery after an ACL injury last year. He's ready to step on the field again and will do so on Friday night.

It's a story that parallels what Jimmy Garoppolo went through over the past year. So the San Francisco 49ers quarterback recorded a message for Dote, wishing him luck in his return from injury.

"Just wanted to wish you luck, man," Garoppolo said to Dote via the video. "I know you went through the same process as me with the ACL and everything. I just want to let you know, man, tough times don't last, tough people do. So stay strong man, and good luck tomorrow and the rest of the way. Tear it up this year, man."

Garoppolo's return to the field was on Monday night against the Denver Broncos. The performance in limited snaps wasn't what the quarterback or his fans had hoped, but he will have one last chance to shake off any post-injury rust before the season on Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dote was appreciative of the good luck wishes from the 49ers quarterback.

"An ACL injury ain't gonna keep either of us down," Dote wrote via Instagram.

The Amador Valley Dons play the Antioch Panthers on Friday at 7 p.m. PT.

H/t to Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee for the find.

PFF high on this cornerback for 49ers in mock draft

By David Bonilla
Apr 15

Analyst Dane Brugler of The Athletic grades former Iowa State cornerback T.J. Tampa as a second or third-round draft pick and ranks him 55th overall on his big board. Pro Football Focus, however, holds a higher opinion of the young defensive back. In his latest mock draft, the site's lead analyst, Sam Monson, has the San Francisco 49ers selecting Tampa with the No. 31 overall pick. "T.J. Tampa fits the prototype of a 49ers cornerback," Monson explains. "He has had consecutive seasons of very impressive play and allowed just 240 yards on 49 targets last season. The team doesn't necessarily need him to make an immediate impact, but they could

Rapoport: 49ers send clear message to teams inquiring about Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Apr 16

Ian Rapoport didn't offer much of an update on the ongoing contract negotiations between the San Francisco 49ers and their standout wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk. However, the NFL insider emphasized one thing: The team is not entertaining trade discussions at this juncture. Reacting to Aiyuk's decision to unfollow the 49ers on Instagram, Rapoport couldn't help but chuckle at the latest development. This practice has become commonplace among players who are unhappy with their contract situations. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel similarly took this action in 2022 before requesting to be traded just before the draft. Things have yet to escalate that far with Aiyuk, but Rapoport sees his
