Watch: Kyle Shanahan speaks with Peter King about Jimmy Garoppolo’s return, Nick Bosa’s health, 49ers injuries

Aug 13, 2019 at 6:35 PM--

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan sat down in his office at the team's facilities in Santa Clara with Peter King of NBC Sports for an 8-minute-and-30-second interview. You can watch the entire discussion via the video below, which was posted to YouTube.

There isn't a whole lot of new information from the conversation, but it is still worth the watch and listen for Niner fans. Plus, knowing that King was at the facilities recently could mean a lengthy feature for NBC Sports may be in the works.

During the conversation, Shanahan discusses the following:

  • Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's return from injury and development
  • The injuries that have impacted the team during training camp
  • Concerns (or lack of) over rookie defensive end Nick Bosa's ability to stay healthy
  • The new pass interference replay rules and how Shanahan is preparing for them

Nick Bosa has the potential to be a force along the San Francisco 49ers defensive line for years to come. The young pass rusher was as good as advertised during his first NFL season, a campaign that earned him NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. The 49ers' all-time sack leader, Bryant Young, loves what he sees in Bosa. Young joined KNBR on Thursday to discuss his impending induction into the 49ers Hall of Fame and offered up a scouting report of the second-year defender. "I think his ceiling is very high, just coming in," Young told Greg Papa and John Lund.
