The San Francisco 49ers and rookie defensive end Nick Bosa have reached an agreement on a four-year deal, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Bosa, who played college football at Ohio State, was selected in the first round with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The news comes minutes after the 49ers announced that the team had waived undrafted free agent defensive back Alex Brown, freeing up a roster spot.

Update: Minutes after this news broke, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that San Francisco had agreed to terms with its only remaining unsigned draft pick, wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

49ers players report to training camp on Friday with the first practice taking place on Saturday.

The 6-foot-4 and 266-pound Bosa finished his 2018 season with the Buckeyes with four sacks in three games after racking up 13.5 during his previous two years. The season was shortened after he underwent surgery due to a core muscle injury sustained during Ohio State's third game. Bosa registered 77 combined tackles with 17.5 sacks in just over two seasons with the Buckeyes.

Bosa believes he joins a team which is better than its 2018 record indicated.

"I think it's the best roster for any team that's picking that high," he said at his introductory press conference on April 26. "Obviously, they had the injury (to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo) last year which allowed them to pick that high. I think it's pretty awesome that I'm joining a team that's already assembled a pretty darn good squad. Just playing here, seeing the Super Bowl trophies around, it's definitely pretty cool."

Bosa missed most of the 49ers' organized team activities and their June minicamp after suffering a low-grade hamstring injury. He is expected to be full-go for training camp.

Thanks to the 2011 CBA, all rookie contracts are now for a length of four years. Only first-round selections come with a team option for a fifth year, which applies to Bosa. Having set numbers for each spot eliminates the need to negotiate salaries and only leaves items like bonus payment terms, roster bonus allocations, and other miscellaneous structural items.

The total value of Bosa's four-year contract is believed to be $33,551,874, or very close to that amount, according to OverTheCap.com. That includes a signing bonus of $22,421,364 and a 2019 salary cap figure of $6,100,341.
