The NFL player launch-date ratings for EA Sports' latest installment of its football video game franchise, Madden NFL 20, were made available on Monday morning. The game is scheduled for release on August 2 with a special edition version becoming available three days earlier.

Three San Francisco 49ers received game ratings of 90-or-above. They are cornerback Richard Sherman, who is the team's highest-rated player, tight end George Kittle, and tackle Joe Staley.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo received a rating of 78, which ranks No. 21 among NFL quarterbacks in the game and is the third-highest rating among NFC West signal-callers. Only Arizona Cardinals rookie Kyler Murray had a rating lower than Garoppolo's among the quarterbacks within the division.

Sherman is the league's third-highest graded cornerback while Kittle is the fourth-highest graded tight end. First-year Niner, Jason Verrett, is the team's second-highest graded cornerback. Robbie Gould, who on Monday signed a new multi-year contract with the 49ers, is listed as the league's second-best kicker behind Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens.

The game has Tevin Coleman listed as San Francisco's highest-graded running back (other than fullback Kyle Juszczyk) and Marquise Goodwin as its highest-graded wide receiver.

49ers-Texans player-for-player trade fell apart on Tuesday

By David Bonilla
Mar 13

Defensive tackle Arik Armstead is now a free agent after the San Francisco 49ers released him on Wednesday. However, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports that he was almost headed to the Houston Texans. A source told Barrows that on Tuesday, the 49ers had a deal in place to trade Armstead for Texans defensive tackle Maliek Collins. However, the deal fell apart when the Texans agreed to terms with edge rusher Danielle Hunter. Despite the failed trade, the 49ers ended up acquiring Collins in exchange for a seventh-round pick, the No. 232 overall selection in next month's draft. Collins is the second defensive tackle San Francisco has added this week, with the

Mia O'Brien, a reporter for Jacksonville radio station 1010XL, was the first to link San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. A new report from O'Brien sheds light on the asking price for the star wide receiver, who is entering his fifth-year option. According to O'Brien, the 49ers sought the No. 17 overall pick, plus wide receiver Zay Jones, in exchange for Aiyuk. However, it seems this asking price was deemed too high for the Jaguars, who would have had to part ways with these assets and commit significant money to Aiyuk in the form of a contract

Updated list of 49ers draft picks in 2024 after NFL penalty

By David Bonilla

The NFL has penalized the San Francisco 49ers for payroll accounting errors that occurred at the end of the 2022 league year. This has led to the team forfeiting their fifth-round draft pick in 2025 and a reduction in their fourth-round pick in the upcoming draft. San Francisco's fourth-round selection, initially No. 131 overall, now shifts down four spots to the end of the round at No. 135, following the compensatory picks from that round. Despite this setback, the 49ers still possess 10 selections in the 2024 NFL Draft but will be short a pick next year. The team's selections in the upcoming draft are as follows: Round 1, Pick 31 Overall Round
