Deebo Samuel says 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo has looked ‘great’ this offseason

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is preparing to enter his first NFL season. He has been impressed so far with the man who will be throwing him footballs in 2019, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo is returning from the season-ending ACL injury he sustained in late-September. Samuel joined NFL Total Access on Wednesday and discussed the San Francisco 49ers' franchise quarterback with Lindsay Rhodes, who asked how Garoppolo has looked this offseason.

"Great," Samuel responded. "He's looking pretty good. He's moving well, and things like that."

Garoppolo has received work during the 49ers' entire offseason program. He's gotten reps during everything minus 11-on-11 drills. Although, Garoppolo did take part in one practice snap with a full defensive lineup in front of him. He is expected to be fully cleared for training camp and be the 49ers' Week 1 starter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 8.

What kind of impression has Garoppolo made on his rookie receiver?

"Every day that we're here, even though the vets are gone, he's still here," Samuel said. "He's here every day, all day, even during rehab. His daily routine, like before practice, you see he has the same daily routine; he gets the guys going. He's just ready to work every day coming into the building."

Deebo Samuel and Brock Purdy are why the 49ers can afford to pay Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
Apr 10

It's evident that the San Francisco 49ers engaged in long-term financial planning. Much discussion has centered around the feasibility of the team committing significant financial resources to two wide receivers, Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. Some skeptics question the wisdom of such heavy investment in a single position, especially considering that the 49ers handed Samuel a substantial three-year extension merely two years ago. Adding complexity to this debate is the impending contract extension for quarterback Brock Purdy, positioning him to become the highest-paid player on the team. He will likely even become one of the NFL's highest-paid players. Where he ranks in average salary will depend upon whether he can replicate the stellar performance of his Pro Bowl 2023

Mike Silver on how Deebo Samuel's contract might be the starting point for a Brandon Aiyuk extension

By Al Sacco
Apr 16

With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, it's common for the rumor mill to start churning, especially with players who are actively seeking a new contract. It was just two short years ago that WR Deebo Samuel requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers prior to draft day, only for cooler heads to prevail and eventually agree to a new deal. Now, it's WR Brandon Aiyuk's turn to try and get paid and rumors surfaced over the weekend that he too would request to be dealt. While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night. 49ers begin offseason workout program today

By David Bonilla
Apr 15

The San Francisco 49ers are among the 25 teams kicking off their offseason workout program today. However, don't expect to see players facing off against each other on the practice field for the next couple of weeks. The program's early portion, dubbed "Phase One," spans two weeks and includes limited activities such as meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only. The second phase of the offseason program extends for three weeks and includes on-field workouts for individual or group instruction and drills. After that, teams can hold up to 10 days of organized team activities on the practice field. As the 49ers continue to negotiate a contract extension for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, it's important to note that all of these sessions are
