Everyone figured new San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa would carry over his college number to the pros. That was made official on Monday, according to team reporter Joe Fann.
Bosa will wear No. 97, which was previously worn by linebacker Dekoda Watson before he was traded to the Denver Broncos on Saturday.
The Day 2 wide receiver selections also chose their numbers. Deebo Samuel will wear No. 19 while Jalen Hurd will wear No. 17.
Also of note is that linebacker Pita Taumoepenu will make a switch from No. 55 to No. 50. The reason? So new pass rusher Dee Ford can wear No. 55, the number he wore for five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. There's little doubt that Taumoepenu profited from that switch.
#49ers number news:
Nick Bosa - #97
Dee Ford - #55
Pita Taumoepenu - #50
Deebo Samuel - #19
Jalen Hurd - #17*all rookie numbers are subject to change.
