The 2019 NFL Draft is in the books, and the San Francisco 49ers will get to work on signing each of the eight players from their new rookie class. Doing so is relatively easy thanks to the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which was last ratified in 2011 and extends through the 2020 season.

All rookie contracts are now for a length of four years. Only first-round selections come with an option for a fifth year, which, for the 49ers, only applies to defensive end Nick Bosa. If they choose to do so, NFL teams must activate the player's fifth-year option before the fourth and final year of the rookie deal. For example, the 49ers recently decided to exercise the fifth-year option of defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and had until May 3 to do so.

Having set numbers for each spot eliminates the need to negotiate salaries and only leaves items like bonus payment terms, roster bonus allocations, and other miscellaneous structural items. It's those extra items that can stall an agreement. The 49ers' first-round selection last year, tackle Mike McGlinchey, didn't sign his rookie contract until two days before players reported to training camp.

The 49ers will have an estimated rookie pool of $11,158,837 in 2019, according to OverTheCap.com's estimations.

Note: At the time of this post, OverTheCap.com only listed seven of the 49ers' eight draft selections. We added the eighth, Tim Harris (No. 198 overall), into the above figure. OverTheCap.com still has that selection belonging to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Below are the estimated four-year contract values, signing bonuses, and 2019 salary cap figures for each of the 49ers' eight draft picks, again, per OverTheCap.com.

By David Bonilla

With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, ESPN contributors have highlighted some prospects who have seen their draft stock rise throughout the evaluation process. Jordan Reid and Matt Miller pinpointed players who could hear their names called at the end of the first round. Interestingly, both of the prospects identified by Reid and Miller play in the trenches but on different sides of the ball. The San Francisco 49ers are widely expected to draft an offensive lineman with their first selection—No. 31 overall. The team mostly ignored the group in free agency. However, it wouldn't surprise many people if the

While most expect the San Francisco 49ers to target an offensive lineman with their first-round pick, NFL Media lead draft writer Eric Edholm has the team going in another direction with the No. 31 overall pick. In his final mock draft of the year, Edholm has the team selecting former Illinois defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton, who also goes by "Johnny." "If you're worried Newton's skill set overlaps too much with that of Javon Hargrave, consider that Hargrave is set to hit the salary cap at more than $28 million in the 2025 season -- when he'll be 32 years old," Edholm explained. "As a relentless scheme-wrecker, Newton would help alleviate the

By David Bonilla

Trent Williams will be 36 at the start of the 2024 NFL season. While retirement isn't on his mind just yet, the San Francisco 49ers must consider a succession plan for left tackle. NFL Media's Bucky Brooks unveiled his final mock draft, projecting the San Francisco 49ers to select former Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan with the No. 31 overall pick as their eventual replacement for Williams.
