We knew Mississippi State edge defender Montez Sweat was visiting the San Francisco 49ers this week. That trip to the team's Santa Clara headquarters took place on Friday, according to Josh Norris of Rotoworld and NBC Sports.

Sweat was part of San Francisco's 30 allowed pre-draft visits. The 49ers staff is already familiar with him. Sweat took part in the Senior Bowl in January and was part of the South squad, which was coached by 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff.

Sweat had back-to-back double-digit sack totals with the Bulldogs over the past two seasons, including a 12-sack campaign during his senior year in 2018. He impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine in February with a 4.41 40-time, which was the fastest among defensive linemen and linebackers this year.

The 49ers also hosted defensive tackle Quinnen Williams of Alabama, pass rusher Josh Allen of Kentucky, and linebacker Terrill Hanks of New Mexico State this week. The team will host defensive end Nick Bosa of Ohio State next week.

H/t to Patrick Tulini for the find.

Since their 2019 Super Bowl run, players like Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, and former 49ers Richard Sherman and Jimmie Ward have garnered most of the attention when talking about the team.
