Washington State tackle Andre Dillard is preparing for the draft and has worked out with Joe Staley as part of that process. Omar Ruiz spoke with the draft prospect at Washington State's pro day on Wednesday and asked what he has learned from the San Francisco 49ers veteran tackle.
"Just being around him kind of made me a little bit better," Dillard said. "He had some good words for us and showed us a lot of technique and just things that help a lot. I've watched a lot of his film, and I've learned some pretty valuable things just in the few times I've met with him."
Staley and second-year tackle Mike McGlinchey started working out in San Diego in late February as they both prepare for the 49ers' rigorous offseason program, which kicks off on April 15.
Dillard, 6-foot-5 and 315-pounds, had a 40-time of 4.96 seconds, a vertical jump of 29 inches, a broad jump of 118 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 7.44 seconds, 24 reps in the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.4 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
Dillard is expected to be selected in the first round of the draft.
