Representatives from the San Francisco 49ers were on hand at Cal Poly's pro day on Friday to observe fullback Joe Protheroe and five other former members of the football team, according to the school's official website. Protheroe drew the most attention from an NFL contingent that included the 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Jacksonville Jaguars. He is seen as a potential running back in the NFL rather than a traditional fullback.

Protheroe recorded a 40-time of 4.75 seconds, benched 22 225-pound reps, leaped nine feet in the broad jump, and jumped 30.5 inches in the vertical. He rushed for a single-season school-record 1,810 yards on 363 carries with 13 touchdowns through 11 games last season. Protheroe has registered 4,271 rushing yards, also a school record, with 35 rushing touchdowns over his collegiate career with the Mustangs.

Quarterback Khaleel Jenkins, kicker Alex Vega, defensive back Jerek Rosales, defensive back B.J. Nard, and defensive lineman Leroy Mealancon also participated in the pro day. The latter two ended their time with Cal Poly in 2017.

The team's official site states that both Vega and Rosales are expected to attend the local pro days of the 49ers and Oakland Raiders next month while Protheroe plans to attend the Raiders'.

By David Bonilla

Nearly all NFL teams were represented at Arizona's pro day, with only three teams choosing to skip the event. The San Francisco 49ers were among those in attendance to scout the draft prospects, including potential first-round pick, tackle Jordan Morgan. The Niners currently hold 10 selections in the upcoming draft, with their first pick at No. 31 overall. Of note, it wasn't just any 49ers scout present at Arizona's pro day. NFL Draft Diamonds reports that it was the team's director of college scouting. Tariq Ahmad held that position before recently being promoted, along with R.J. Gillen, to co-directors of player personnel. It's assumed that NFL Draft Diamonds meant one of these two

Charvarius Ward willing to help 49ers land Tre'Davious White

By David Bonilla

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand. Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction. Ward described White as a "hand in glove
