Assuming the Arizona Cardinals select quarterback Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick in next month's draft, the San Francisco 49ers will have a big decision to make at No. 2. Does the team select yet another interior defensive lineman in Quinnen Williams of Alabama, go with a difference maker off the edge in Nick Bosa of Ohio State, or trade the pick?

The Good Morning Football crew debated the 49ers' options with the second pick and two of the three on hand Wednesday morning picked Williams. No one felt the 49ers should trade the pick.

Kyle Brandt was the lone host to go with Bosa for San Francisco but acknowledged that both he and Williams seem to be the most "bust-proof" prospects in the draft.

"Personally, I like Bosa more than Williams but they are in a sweet spot there at No. 2," Brandt said.

Brandt later said that he doesn't expect Bosa to be available for the New York Jets when they pick at No. 3.

Both Mike Garafolo and Nate Burleson went with Williams.

"I feel like Williams has the potential to be an absolute difference maker," Garafolo said. "I really do."

Burleson added, "When you look at defensive tackles and what they bring to the table, and how they solidify defenses, and help stuff runs, what running backs do they have to face in the NFC West? Seattle? Running back by committee, including Russell Wilson; you've got to stop him. You've got to stop the run. When it comes to the Rams, Todd Gurley. Arizona? David Johnson.

"So I say go right ahead and get Quinnen Williams because right away, you're going to help stop some of these running backs in the NFC West, which are so good."

49ers see impending mega-deal for Brock Purdy as a 'good problem'

By David Bonilla
Mar 27

The San Francisco 49ers are actively working to sign wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a contract extension, aiming to maintain their talented young core of players. The team has reached agreements with star players during each of the last four offseasons, securing George Kittle in 2020, Fred Warner in 2021, Deebo Samuel in 2022, and Nick Bosa in 2023. Another key contributor poised for a new deal next offseason is quarterback Brock Purdy. Over the last couple of years, the 49ers have been in the unique position of not having to pay much money (relatively) to stock their quarterback room while reaping the benefits of superb play from their starting signal-caller. However,

49ers actively negotiating with Brandon Aiyuk, not discussing trades, says John Lynch

By David Bonilla
Mar 25

General manager John Lynch addressed reporters at the NFL owners meetings on Monday, emphasizing the San Francisco 49ers' active pursuit of a contract extension for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. There has been significant speculation surrounding Aiyuk's status this offseason. The receiver is slated to play on his fifth-year option, which guarantees him $14.124 million in 2024. While the team would be content with Aiyuk playing on that fifth-year option, it would prefer to secure the star receiver to a long-term deal before he returns to the field. By Site Staff
Mar 19

Offensive lineman Jon Feliciano and linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles recently re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers on one-year deals. OverTheCap.com has revealed the contract information for both deals. Feliciano signed a contract that includes the minimum base salary for a player with eight accrued seasons of experience—$1.21 million. Flannigan-Fowles' base salary is slightly higher, at about $1.77 million. Feliciano is scheduled to count about $2.28 million against the 2024 salary cap, while Flannigan-Fowles is slated to consume almost $1.3 million. The linebacker's reduced impact is due to the 49ers using a portion of up to $1.45 million of salary that won't count against the salary cap for veteran players. The 49ers are paying Feliciano a
