Wes Welker spent 12 seasons as an NFL wide receiver and has spent the past two as an offensive assistant with the Houston Texans. Both the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers interviewed him for positions on their staffs, according to a report from Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

News of the interviews was first reported by Sports Illustrated, per Wilson.

Welker has worked with the Texans receivers alongside wide receivers coach John Perry. Included within that group are DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller, the former of whom finished the 2018 season with 115 receptions for an AFC-leading 1,572 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Welker, 37, is a five-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time first-team All-Pro. The San Diego Chargers signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech in 2004, and he went on to play for the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and St. Louis Rams.

Welker led the NFL in receptions three times (2007, 2009, 2011) and holds the record for the most receptions by an undrafted player in NFL history (903) to go along with 9,924 receiving yards and 50 receiving touchdowns over his career.

Report: 49ers keeping 'in touch' with free agent safety Jamal Adams

By David Bonilla
Apr 29

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports that the Seattle Seahawks remain interested in reuniting with free agent safety Jamal Adams. He adds another name to the list of teams considering Adams for the upcoming season—the San Francisco 49ers. "Sources said the San Francisco 49ers are among other teams who have kept in touch with Adams, so the Seahawks could have some competition for the former All-Pro safety, who is still just 28 years old," wrote Condotta. The New York Jets drafted Adams (6-1, 213) out of LSU with the No. 6 overall pick in 2017. He registered 48 tackles, including seven for a loss, two

Ian Rapoport sends clear message regarding 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel

By David Bonilla
Apr 30

One thing is clear: Ian Rapoport expects Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel to be on the San Francisco 49ers roster when the team takes the field in Week 1 of the 2024 season. At this point, most probably feel that way. The fact that both stayed with the team throughout the draft clearly signals that general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan intend to retain their two talented receivers—at least for one more season. "Week 1 of 2024, it looks like they both will be [on the roster]," Rapoport told guest host Tom Pelissero on "The Rich Eisen Show." However, nothing in the NFL is ever certain. "Now, look, crazy things can happen," Rapoport continued. "Someone loses a star receiver, they decide to give the 49ers something of value for this

49ers were impressed by this Renardo Green performance

By David Bonilla
May 1

The New York Giants made wide receiver Malik Nabers the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Fifty-eight picks later, the San Francisco 49ers selected cornerback Renardo Green in the second round. Green earned a career-high 86.4 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus last year, with opposing quarterbacks posting a mere 75.0 passer rating when targeting him. He kicked off the season with an impressive performance in Week 1, where he was tasked with containing Nabers and preventing him from taking over the game. Nabers finished the contest with six receptions for 67 yards in a 45-24 loss to Florida State. Only two of those receptions for a total of 20 yards came from the five targets against Green, who also managed to secure an
