It is unknown at the time of this post what front office position general manager John Lynch and the 49ers envision for Grigson.
Grigson spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles (2010–11) as the director of player personnel before his five seasons (2012-16) as general manager with the Colts. He also spent time as a senior personnel executive with the Cleveland Browns (2017) and a senior football consultant with the Seattle Seahawks (2018).
Grigson was named the Executive of the Year Award by the Sporting News in 2013. The Colts improved from 2-14 in 2011 to 11-5 in 2012 following a draft class that included quarterback Andrew Luck and wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.
