Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert will not enter the draft, which could impact teams with top 5 picks

The San Francisco 49ers will definitely have a top-5 pick in next year's draft. They potentially could have one of the top two selections, depending on the outcome of Week 17's games. The 49ers won't be in search of a quarterback but other teams could be looking to upgrade the position. That could create trade possibilities for San Francisco or other teams with top selections.

One quarterback who will not be part of the rookie crop entering the NFL next season is Justin Herbert of Oregon. The Ducks announced on Wednesday that he intends to return to the collegiate program for his senior year.

The statement read:

"The University of Oregon has been a special place to me for as long as I can remember. Words will never be able to express my feelings of gratitude toward the people that have built and maintain our program. What I have come to realize, though, is that nothing could pull me away from the opportunities that we have in front of us. As we prepare for our bowl game, I would like to ensure that there are no distractions outside of this game. My commitment to my teammates, our coaches, Duck fans, and the University of Oregon has never been stronger. I'll be returning to the University of Oregon for my senior year. Go Ducks!"

Herbert has been projected as one of the top quarterback prospects headed into the draft season. He has thrown for 2,985 yards with 28 touchdowns to just eight interceptions as a junior this year.
