Nick Mullens was the star of the final Battle of the Bay between the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders. The second-year quarterback usually is calm and collected, but he was visibly emotional after the dominant 34-3 win, which also served as his NFL debut.
Mullens spoke with FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews on the field and shared what it was like playing in his first regular-season NFL game.
"It's everything I've dreamed of," an emotional Mullens said. "It's only one game, though, which is very important. But I've been in the organization for two years and just tried to learn as much as I could, prepare like I'm the starter every week, and this week was my week. So you've just got to take advantage of opportunities when they come, and they came."
While Mullen may have been emotional after the game, he was focused during it. The quarterback completed 16-of-22 passes for 262 yards with three touchdowns and a passer rating of 151.9, becoming the first player to throw for two-or-more scores in his 49ers debut.
"I was just focused," Mullens said. "The only thing that matters is winning this game as a team. We played great tonight as a team. We played smart football and no turnovers, very little penalties, and great defense. So everybody worked together, and it turned out good."
