How tight end George Kittle used 49ers resources to propose to his girlfriend

Sep 27, 2018 at 5:38 PM--

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle suffered a separated shoulder during the team's exhibition opener on August 9. The injury didn't keep him from getting down on one knee the next day.

Kittle proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Claire Till, and wasn't afraid to use 49ers resources to do so. He gave Damon Bruce the play-by-play during a Thursday night interview on 95.7 The Game.

"I'm not going to brag but I think I killed it, I'm not going to lie," Kittle said. "I convinced my fiancé — well, girlfriend at the time — that the 49ers were doing a photo shoot for girlfriends and boyfriends, husbands and wives that they were going to put in the brochures and on the website. So I had our head photographer and two of our head video guys basically do a fake photo shoot down on the Santa Cruz beach, and so she basically had no idea.

"We were doing a whole photo shoot on the beach; cameras, we had a drone down there, lighting, everything that you possibly need. Got her a little bit distracted and then cut to the pop the question. It was pretty awesome."

Kittle said the team's staff is putting together a 10-minute video of the whole thing using the footage that it got.

"I didn't think he was going to bring the drone out, but when he did, I was like, 'You know what? Screw it. That will be pretty fun,'" Kittle added.

It isn't easy to speculate on the development of Trey Lance during practices. Most of those criticizing the young quarterback were not watching him every day. One player who did watch Lance every day is his San Francisco 49ers teammate, George Kittle. The All-Pro tight end loves what he has seen from the now-22-year-old quarterback. Lance is expected to be the 49ers' starter come Week 1 of the upcoming season. However, the starter of the past four-and-a-half seasons, Jimmy Garoppolo, remains on the roster. Garoppolo is recovering from the shoulder surgery he underwent on March 8, so the 49ers can't trade the veteran quarterback until he is medically cleared to throw again. Kittle joined The Pat McAfee Show on Friday and was asked if Garoppolo remaining

The drama surrounding Deebo Samuel has died down a bit. Much of that is due to the San Francisco 49ers not granting his trade request ahead of the draft. By not doing so, the team declared that they believe the relationship with their do-everything wideout can be mended. George Kittle has been making the media rounds today. Of course, among the questions directed toward the All-Pro tight end involves the status of Samuel. After all, it's a storyline that dominated NFL headlines heading into the draft. "I actually talked to him a few days ago," Kittle said on The Pat McAfee Show. "Yeah, he seemed like he was in a good mood. He was hanging out with his kid, who he just had. ... I didn't ask about his contract, so we were just talking about other things,

George Kittle: 49ers offense will be 'more exciting' with Trey Lance

By David Bonilla

Trey Lance seems to have a lot of doubters this offseason. Many are questioning his readiness to be the starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, the team that drafted him No. 3 overall last year. George Kittle is not one of Lance's doubters. Yes, the All-Pro tight end acknowledges that there could be some growing pains for the young quarterback this season. Lance, after all, started only two games as a rookie and played just 178 snaps. Kittle also realizes the talent level of the 49ers roster. That talent could carry the second-year passer should there be any early struggles. "If that's how it shakes down, and Trey Lance is the

George Kittle, Greg Olsen, and Travis Kelce will once again hold Tight End University (TEU), an annual gathering of NFL tight ends who share their experiences and learn from each other. Last year's inaugural event hosted 49 tight ends. This year's gathering is expected to be even larger. TEU will be held at Vanderbilt University from June 22-24, an upgrade from the high school facilities utilized in 2021. After a strong response last year, 75 NFL tight ends — including @gregolsen88
