The San Francisco 49ers were busy on Tuesday working out seven quarterbacks following the loss of Jimmy Garoppolo to a torn ACL. However, they don't plan to sign any of them this week, according to a report from Jim Trotter.
The 49ers have no plans to sign a veteran quarterback this week, but it remains a possibility in the near future.
That means the 49ers will likely roll into Los Angeles to play the Chargers on Sunday with C.J. Beathard as the starter (as expected) and Nick Mullens as his likely backup. The team has not yet officially announced his promotion from the practice squad but will probably do so before Wednesday's practice.
San Francisco worked out Kellen Clemens, T.J. Yates, Tom Savage, E.J. Manuel, Landry Jones, Matt Simms, and Kyle Allen on Tuesday, as reported here. They also worked out safeties Kelcie McCray and Eddie Pleasant.
