The Los Angeles Rams emerge from Week 1 alone atop the NFC West. They are the only team within the division to win its regular-season opener with a 33-13 beating of the Jon Gruden-led Oakland Raiders. For a while, it looked as though the entire division might go winless. The Raiders led the Rams 13-10 at halftime. Los Angeles went on a 23-0 run after that.

Jared Goff completed 18-of-33 passes for 233 yards with two touchdowns while his counterpart for the Raiders, Derek Carr, completed 29-of-40 for 303 yards with three interceptions. Rams running back Todd Gurley rushed for 108 yards on 20 carries.

The Seattle Seahawks fell 27-24 to the Denver Broncos while the Washington Redskins took care of the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 24-6. The San Francisco 49ers, of course, dropped their opener to the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 24-16.

The Rams will return to the Bay Area on October 21 for a Week 7 matchup against the 49ers at Levi's Stadium. The two teams will meet again on December 30 for a regular-season finale at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Los Angeles is considered by many to be the frontrunner to win the division after doing so last season.

Week 2 for the NFC West looks like this:

Sunday, September 16
Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams

Monday, September 17
Seattle Seahawks at Chicago Bears
