The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their regular season opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Linebacker Malcolm Smith, who missed all of last season with a pectoral injury, continues to work his way back from a hamstring injury. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh seemed confident that the defensive player will be available against the Vikings.

"He's going through practice today and everything looks good for gameday," Saleh told reporters on Thursday.

Smith is expected to be the starting WILL linebacker on Sunday.
