Nolan opened by saying that he takes full responsibility for this football team and their 2-5 record.
When asked if he was embarrassed by the way that this team has played, Nolan stated that he was not because this team continues to fight.
Did the team quit? Nolan feels that the team is more frustrated than anything else. When asked about a player flipping off the fans, referring to kicker Joe Nedney, he felt that team was frustrated and that is where that action came from. Nolan said that he has spoken to Nedney and that he was very apologetic about this actions towards the fans. No disciplinary action will be taken by the team but Nolan assumes the league will take action against Nedney.
Nolan felt that while Smith did overthrow some passes, his play was not affected by his shoulder injury.
When asked if he feels whether he was worried about job security, Nolan stated that he will never be motivated by job security and is more worried about getting on track and winning. He is more worried about meeting his own expectations rather than the expectations of the owners of the team.
Nolan felt that the offensive line did a good job in protecting the quarterback for most of the game. He also stated that if this team is healthy, they are much more formidable of an opponent than what we have seen.
Nolan wanted to point out that, while this team is young at key positions, this team needs to learn how to not play as a young team. The have veteran leadership, but players like Smith, Gore, Robinson, Staley, Davis and others are still very young.
Nolan hopes that wide receiver Jason Hill gets more playing time and that he showed some promise while on the field. He felt that Hill ran some good routes in his limited playing time on Sunday. He also felt that tight end Vernon Davis did some good things on Sunday.
Frank Gore is frustrated about not winning but Nolan spoke to him and felt that they had a positive conversation.
There are no updates on injuries and Nolan probably will not hear anything until Wednesday. While he confirmed that tight end Delanie Walker injured his shoulder, Nolan did not want to comment on what the injury actually was.
