Garoppolo's 293 yards passing were a career-high. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the total set a 49ers franchise record for most passing yards by a player in his first start.

Trailing 12-14 with 5:27 left to play in the game, Garoppolo led a 14-play, 86-yard drive to set up the game-winning field goal by kicker Robbie Gould with four seconds left on the clock. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin set a new single-game career high in receptions with eight and finished with a game-high 99 receiving yards.
