Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports that the San Francisco 49ers worked out unrestricted free-agent DT's Anttaj Hawthorne (Raiders), Kevin Vickerson (Dolphins) and Alfred Malone (Texans) on Thursday. None were signed to a contract.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the San Francisco 49ers worked out several running backs. They are Jeremy Cox, Brian Hill, and Dexter Williams. The 49ers have one healthy running back entering Week 14's matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Starter Elijah Mitchell and Trenton Cannon are in the concussion protocol. Jeff Wilson Jr.'s knee flared up on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. Trey Sermon is on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel and linebacker Fred Warner were among the players who exited Sunday's game between the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings due to injuries. Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters via a conference call on Monday and provided several injury updates, including those suffered by Samuel and Warner. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered a groin strain. "I expect him to miss one to two weeks," Shanahan said. Linebacker Fred Warner is dealing with a hamstring strain and will miss this weekend's game against the Seattle Seahawks. "Hopefully, he'll be back the next one," Shanahan said. The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 12 contest against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Running back Elijah Mitchell is still in a blue no-contact jersey, per the only reporter on hand to watch Friday's practice, Matt Barrows of The Athletic. Mitchell is still recovering from surgery to repair a finger fracture. Injuries can sometimes lead to opportunities in the NFL, and when those opportunities arise, it's important for the players who get their chance to make the most of it. One of the biggest examples of that this season for the San Francisco 49ers has been third-year linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, who has been shining recently in a starting role after taking over for the injured Dre Greenlaw. Greenlaw has been injured for most of the season after suffering a groin injury against the Detroit Lions in Week 1. Al-Shaair has stepped in and been a standout at times, in particular during the 49ers' 34-26 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
