T.J. Watt has workout with 49ers this week

Apr 12, 2017 at 10:49 AM--

According to Jeremy Bergman of NFL Media, Wisconsin OLB T.J. Watt has a workout scheduled with the San Francisco 49ers this week. "Fresh off four workouts with teams in Wisconsin, Watt scheduled workouts with the Saints, Dolphins and 49ers this week and has locked down a flight to Mile High to visit with John Elway and the Broncos on April 18," wrote Bergman.

Watt is a 6-foot-4, 252-pound pass rusher and is the younger brother of J.J. Watt and Derek Watt. After injuries set him back in 2015, Watt accumulated 63 tackles with 15.5 for a loss, 11.5 sacks, an interception, a touchdown, and four passes defended through 14 games as a junior in 2016. That junior performance earned him first-team All-Big Ten honors.

Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Watt to Paul Kruger, had the following to say in his scouting report:

"A long-limbed effort rusher who posted impressive numbers against the run and pass in just one year as a starter. He is a tireless worker who pursues from snap to whistle and his brother, J.J., will be a tremendous resource for technique and pass-rush plan. While he is unlikely to win a race to the edge, he's a plus run defender who can get to the quarterback with plus hand work and relentless effort."

Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst had the following to say in their scouting report:

"Watt displayed himself as a forceful linebacker and prototypical strong-side player last season. Very effective in the box or up the field, he must improve his skill making plays in reverse but should be productive in the proper system."

With the 2020 NFL season over for those teams not in the playoffs, like the San Francisco 49ers, it's officially mock-draft season. The Niners own the No. 12 overall pick in this year's rookie selection process. ESPN analyst Todd McShay released his latest mock draft, which does not include any trades, given the draft is still months away. He has just two quarterbacks — Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Zach Wilson of BYU — being selected ahead of the 49ers' first-round selection. Yet, the analyst doesn't have general manager John Lynch, head coach Kyle Shanahan, and company going

Brandon Aiyuk has John Lynch excited about the 49ers' future

By the end of the 2020 season, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk looked a lot more comfortable in the San Francisco 49ers offense and appeared ready to leap to becoming a dangerous offensive weapon. From Week 7 through Week 15, Aiyuk averaged 94.7 receiving yards per game through six appearances. To put that into perspective, maintaining that average throughout a 16-game season would clock in at 1,514 receiving yards. Aiyuk has just scratched the surface. That has 49ers general manager John Lynch excited. The young receiver would have benefited more from a normal offseason leading into his rookie year. That didn't happen, and it may have contributed to a slower start. "Brandon Aiyuk, he's everything we thought he would be, and a little bit more,"

By David Bonilla

Pro Football Focus released what is sure to be a controversial mock draft, at least in the eyes of San Francisco 49ers fans. Anthony Treash admits that this mock doesn't necessarily represent what he thinks will happen during the annual rookie selection event, but what he would do if he were in charge of each team's draft. Many predict that the 49ers brass might go quarterback with the team's first-round pick, even though John Lynch recently said that isn't the plan right
