49ers met with QB Patrick Mahomes on Thursday night

Mar 31, 2017 at 9:39 AM--

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch is at Texas Tech's pro day to watch quarterback prospect Patrick Mahomes. However, it would seem that the 49ers have already met with him, per a report by Draft Analyst.

"I can tell you Patrick Mahomes met with the San Francisco 49ers last night and also spent a good amount of time with the New York Giants," wrote Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst.

During his junior season in 2016, Mahomes led the country in multiple categories, including yards per game (421), passing yards (5,052), total touchdowns (53), and total offense (5,312). He was the winner of the Sammy Baugh Trophy, which is awarded annually to the nation's top quarterback.

In his final year with the Red Raiders, Mahomes threw 41 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions. That was an improvement compared to the 36 touchdowns and 15 interceptions he threw the year before.

Lynch has already been present at the pro days of North Carolina, where he watched quarterback Mitch Trubisky, and Notre Dame, where he watched quarterback DeShone Kizer. He also took part in a semi-private workout with one other NFL team and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.

The 49ers are widely expected to select a quarterback in this year's draft. They currently own the second overall selection and then select again on Day Two with the number 34 pick.

Adam Rank can't believe ex-49ers LB Patrick Willis isn't a Hall of Fame finalist

By David Bonilla

For the second consecutive year, former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis failed to make the cutdown from 25 modern-era semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame to 15 finalists. Many were shocked when Willis' name wasn't among the list of finalists last year. Imagine how they feel after it happened again. NFL Media analyst Adam Rank was among those "absolutely stunned" in 2020 when Willis' name was left off last year's list of finalists. "I thought he was one of the few automatic selections," Rank wrote last year. "But apparently some Hall of Fame voters tend to favor longevity over guys who were dominant over a shorter period of

By Tim Sprinkles
Jan 4, 2021

The 2020 season has tormented 49ers fans with an unprecedented and shocking number of roster moves and free-agent signings due to injuries, COVID, and poor performance. When the season began, there were dreams of pursuing a sixth Lombardi Trophy, and now, after a Week 17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks that dropped their record to 6-10, the 49ers and their fanbase have shifted their focus to the offseason and the 2021 NFL Draft. With 38 scheduled free agents on the roster, there is one player who John Lynch shouldn't question re-signing: Taybor Pepper. Early on in the season, the 49ers had a crisis at the long-snapper position. Kyle Nelson, the longest-tenured member on the roster after Joe Staley retired, was having trouble with his snap accuracy, at some points even bouncing
