49ers among 15 teams at Chattanooga pro day

Mar 30, 2017 at 11:25 AM--

While San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was at Texas A&M's pro day to watch DE Myles Garrett, the team did have representatives at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to watch the Mocs' pro day, per NFL Draft Diamonds.

In fact, according to the draft site, there was a big NFL presence in attendance on Thursday. The site listed 15 teams in Chattanooga to get a closer look at the football program's prospects. Other than the 49ers, those teams were the New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, and New York Giants.

The 49ers' most memorable selection out of Chattanooga was former wide receiver Terrell Owens, who played in San Francisco from 1996 until 2003.

Among the prospects taking part in the pro day are OL Corey Levin, DE Keionta Davis, RB Derrick Craine, LB Nakevion Leslie, and WR C.J. Board.

The 49ers currently have 10 selections in the 2017 NFL Draft, which kicks off on April 27 in Philadelphia.

By David Bonilla

Kerry Hyder has been a pleasant surprise on a San Francisco 49ers defensive line that has been decimated by injuries this season. In the absence of edge rushers Nick Bosa and Dee Ford, Hyder has racked up 20 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 10 quarterback hits, according to Pro Football Reference. Hyder's overall Pro Football Focus grade of 70.8 is a career-high, and the analytics site credits the defender with 21 total pressures in 134 pass-rush attempts. He owns a pass-rushing-productivity grade of 9.9, which ranks as the fourth-best among NFL edge rushers. The only edge defenders who have made more of an impact rushing quarterbacks are Aldon Smith of the Dallas Cowboys (10.7 grade), T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers (10.4), and Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns (10.1),

Offensive lineman Tom Compton is active for the fifth consecutive game. Inactive for the second consecutive game is wide receiver Dante Pettis. On Saturday, the 49ers activated wide receiver Richie James from injured reserve. He is among the team's active players. Peter King names 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo among his Offensive Players of the Week

By David Bonilla
Oct 19, 2020

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had a pretty good bounce-back game against the Los Angeles Rams after an embarrassingly poor two quarters of play a week earlier. The 49ers passer finished the game 23-of-33 for 268 yards with three touchdowns. Each of those scores, by the way, was hauled in by three different players. In fact, Garoppolo did a good job of getting everyone involved in the passing game. Eight different players caught at least one pass, with All-Pro tight end George Kittle leading the way with seven receptions for 109 yards and a score. Garoppolo's performance was enough to impress Peter King of NBC Sports, who named the 49ers quarterback among his Offensive Players of the Week. "For a slumping and gimpy Garoppolo, Sunday
