Glazer: Shanahan wants to discuss 49ers DC job with Patriots’ Brian Flores

FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer is reporting that Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is interested is talking about the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator job with New England Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores.


Flores will be on the opposite sideline as Shanahan when the Falcons and Patriots face each other in Super Bowl LI on Sunday.

Flores has been with New England during his entire NFL coaching career, starting as a scouting assistant in 2004. From 2012 until 2015, he coached the safeties and then worked with the linebackers in 2016.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Los Angeles Chargers linebackers coach Robert Saleh could be a candidate as well.

The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday. Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick.
