The coaching staff has stated that they would like to try and "ease" Kaepernick back into practices this week in an effort to get him ready to play Friday.
Prior to Saturday's victory over the Denver Broncos, Kaepernick was seen on the field about two hours before kickoff. He reportedly threw over 50 passes, varying in distance, in about a 30-minute window.
On Sunday, head coach Chip Kelly was asked how the quarterback felt following that throwing session. "I think Kap is fine," Kelly answered. "I saw Kap. He's fine."
Kelly went on to say that Kaepernick would "throw some more" in practice today, but did not specify if it would be in team drills. "I don't know that," said Kelly. "We'll see how it goes when he gets out there and starts throwing. So, don't put me and say I said this. I don't know. He's going to start throwing tomorrow and we'll see how it goes, see how he progresses."
Kaepernick has not played in a game – regular season or otherwise – since November 1, 2015. He has not fully practiced since August 10, when his arm fatigue, muscle issue, or whatever the team is choosing to call it, first caused him problems.
