The signing puts the 49ers at the 90-player limit, which means that they will have to make a roster move to make room for OT Anthony Davis once he is fully reinstated from retirement.
McBryde takes the spot of DT Kaleb Ramsey, who retired from the NFL on Thursday.
The team provided the following information about McBryde on their official website:
McBryde (6-5, 292) originally signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2015 and was waived by the team on October 20, 2015. He was then signed to the Green Bay Packers practice squad on November 17, 2015, where he spent the remainder of the season. McBryde signed a Reserve/Future contract with Green Bay on January 19, 2016 and was waived on July 25.
A 24-year-old native of Beaver Falls, PA, McBryde appeared in 30 games (eight starts) in four years at the University of Connecticut (2011-14), and registered 33 tackles and one pass defensed. As a senior in 2014, he played in all 12 games (eight starts) and finished with a career-high 26 tackles.
