It had been thought that both Cal QB Jared Goff and North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz, predicted to be the top two quarterbacks taken in the NFL Draft later this month, would visit with the 49ers last week, perhaps with Goff taking part in the team's local pro day. However, both visits were reportedly rescheduled.

A number of the 49ers' coaching staff were in attendance to watch Goff at his pro day last month. They included head coach Chip Kelly, quarterbacks coach Ryan Day, receivers coach Bob Bicknell, running backs coach Tom Rathman, and assistant offensive line coach Eric Wolford.
Goff finished his pro day 61 of 69 with two drops and capped the session with a 40-yard pass completion. Following the session, Goff even threw some wet footballs after Cleveland Browns quarterback coach Pep Hamilton dowsed some with water. The Browns, who own the second overall pick in the draft, are reportedly very interested in Goff and the Los Angeles Rams, who now own the first overall pick following a trade last week with the Tennessee Titans, are a very likely candidate to select him as well. The 49ers currently own the seventh overall selection.

At the NFL Scouting Combine in February, the 6-foot-4 and 215-pound Goff had a 40-time of 4.82 seconds, a vertical jump of 27 inches, a broad jump of 110 inches, and completed the three cone drill in 7.17 seconds. Other measurables for Goff include an arm length of 32 3/4 inches and hands that measure 9 inches. Although, the hand measurement came in slightly larger at his pro day.
Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Goff to Matt Ryan, had the following to say in his scouting report:
While Goff is a little leaner in the lower body than teams might like, he has good size, an NFL arm, advanced pocket mobility and the field demeanor of a franchise quarterback. His accuracy and decision making will suffer from occasional lapses, but he displays the tools to become a good starting quarterback with time.
The 49ers currently have four quarterbacks on the roster. They are Colin Kaepernick, Blaine Gabbert, Dylan Thompson and Thad Lewis.
