San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters on a conference call Monday, one day after the team's Week 7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons ended their unbeaten start to the season.

Shanahan had little injury news to report following Sunday's game, offering some encouragement as the 49ers enter their bye week. At the time, running back Christian McCaffrey was the only player known to have suffered an injury during the game, exiting temporarily with what was reported to be a thigh injury before returning in the second half.

Shanahan said McCaffrey is actually dealing with a mild hamstring strain. The coach was asked if the running back should be ready for the 49ers' Week 9 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

"Yeah, we think so, with it just being that," Shanahan said. "I mean, you never know for sure, but we're pretty optimistic about it. So is he."

The 49ers have a chance to get several players back after their bye week. Among them is star pass rusher Nick Bosa, who has missed five straight games due to a calf injury.

Others include wide receivers Mike Evans (ribs, Achilles), Demarcus Robinson (ankle), and Deebo Samuel (hamstring); safety Marques Sigle (ankle); linebackers Luke Gifford (groin) and Garret Wallow (hamstring); and defensive tackle C.J. West (knee).

"All those guys have a chance after the bye week, but none are guaranteed," Shanahan said. "So it's a big week of rehab for all of them, and we'll see where they're at next week, at the beginning of the week."

Additionally, rookie wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling, who suffered an ankle injury in Week 1, is on track to return in December.

"Nothing new with him. I'm hoping for sometime in December," Shanahan said.

Cornerback Upton Stout was active for Sunday's game against the Falcons but did not play. He was available only in case of an emergency due to a shoulder injury. He could also be among those who return after the bye.

"He's been hurting here for the last few weeks," Shanahan said. "And that's why we weren't going to use him last night in case it was just a dead emergency, and we got close to that. But by not doing that, hopefully, that'll allow him to heal up here, and hopefully, come back on Monday (when players return) 100 percent."

Shanahan didn't have an update on defensive end Sam Okuayinonu, but no news is likely good news. He landed on injured reserve on September 4 after breaking his foot.

"I'm sure nothing's changed," Shanahan said. "There's been no setbacks or anything, but his was going to be a long time. I think I was told January, so still hoping for January and hoping we can get into the playoffs, where we could have a chance to make that decision."

After this week, the 49ers will begin preparations for their game against the Raiders at Levi's Stadium on November 8. San Francisco will look to bounce back from its first loss and regain momentum as it heads into the second half of the season.
