The post sparked speculation about why the 49ers star would celebrate Clark's ousting. However, Mike Masala of Niners Wire noted that Clark previously addressed Bosa's political statement following a 49ers game during the 2024 season.
"In an episode of 'The Pivot' podcast in 2024, Clark commented on Bosa wearing a 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) hat to interrupt a Sunday Night Football interview with his teammates George Kittle, Brock Purdy and Isaac Guerendo.
"Clark asked that fans treat Bosa's political opinions the same as those who had taken political stances in sports in the past that had come under scrutiny from the public and some talking heads."
Based on that, Clark's comments at the time were not especially critical of Bosa. Instead, he seemed to be arguing that Bosa's public political statement should be subject to the same level of scrutiny that has accompanied similar political expressions by athletes in the past.
Whether that previous discussion was the reason behind Bosa's apparent reaction this week remains unclear.
Bosa was fined $11,255 for a uniform violation following the on-field statement.
The 49ers' veterans are scheduled to report to training camp on Saturday, although Bosa has likely already arrived at the team's facility. Players returning from significant injuries often report several days ahead of the rest of the veterans.
Bosa is working his way back from a torn ACL that limited him to just three games during the 2025 season.
