Burford entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick (134th overall) out of UTSA in 2022, signing with the 49ers. He made an immediate impact as a rookie, transitioning smoothly from the collegiate level and earning a starting role in 16 games during his first NFL season with the 49ers.
During the 2025 season, Burford was placed on injured reserve on September 20 due to a hamstring injury. He was activated on November 1, finishing the season with 11 game appearances, including nine starts.
